Biodiversity Preservation Program
All Beraca’s products and services are based on the tripod of sustainable development, analyzing their economic, social and environmental benefits and impacts.
For this reason, in 2000, BERACA began working on the creation of an extensive “Biodiversity Preservation Program”. The main purpose of this program is to ensure the traceability of Brazilian biodiversity raw materials – especially in the Amazon. With a focus on the community, the company’s projects contribute to regional development and the conservation of the planet’s largest tropical rainforest.
Through this program, BERACA stimulates selective harvesting with the “avoided deforestation” concept, contributes to regional development and the strengthening of local communities and helps conserve the flora and protect the great portfolio of raw materials found in Brazilian biodiversity.
The projects developed in this program comply with the international standards of sustainable development and communication.
Corporate Commitments
Partnerships to build a better world
To keep up with society’s constant evolution to achieve a better world, BERACA is an active collaborator in several significant projects in the corporate world.
United Nations Global Pact
BERACA is a signatory of the United Nations Global Pact. This initiative is the result of an invitation made by the then General Secretary Kofi Annan to the private sector to join forces with UN agencies and other social actors to help further corporate social responsibility and achieve a more sustainable and inclusive global economy.
The Global Pact is based on ten universal principals, derived from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labor Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, The Rio Declaration on Environment and Development and the United Nations convention Against Corruption:
Human Rights
1) Support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights;
2) Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labor Standards
3) Uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
4) Eliminate all forms of forced and compulsory labor;
5) Abolish child labor;
6) Eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
7) Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
8) Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility;
9) Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-Corruption
10) Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
BERACA is proud to present their first Sustainability Report, in compliance GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and Global Compact – UN criteria. This report conveys the company’s social-environmental practices, in compliance with their convictions, their commitment to social well being and the interdependency with reality that must be achieved. With this, BERACA seeks affinity with their customers and also endeavors to stimulate their partners to implement and participate in this process of building a just and sustainable society.
